Lori Mannel has accepted the position of regional director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach serving Carroll, Greene, Boone and Guthrie counties in central Iowa. She begins the position June 6. As regional director, Mannel will provide administrative leadership to county Extension office staff and guidance to county Extension councils.
Mannel is currently the county director for ISU Extension and Outreach Greene County. Previously she served as county coordinator. Mannel is a charter member of the Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, established in 2013, which has distributed local gaming funds totaling $15 million to date.
She also was a charter board member of the Greene County Community Foundation that distributed approximately $100,000 annually to Greene County nonprofit entities. In addition, Mannel served as community relations director and other positions with the American Cancer Society and was director for the Jefferson Area Chamber of Commerce.
“Lori’s proven leadership skills and outstanding community connections are a good fit for the role of a regional director,” said Andrea Welchans, assistant vice president for ISU Extension and Outreach. “We congratulate her and welcome her to her new position with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.”
Mannel received her bachelor’s degree in business management from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
ISU Extension and Outreach is part of the federal Cooperative Extension Service — a network of more than 100 land-grant institutions, including Iowa State University, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture serving communities and counties across the United States. Every county in Iowa has an elected extension council that decides how to support ISU Extension and Outreach educational programs at the county level.
